England Women: Dubai Hypocrisy

A British real estate agents, who were jailed because of a "kiss on the cheek" in Dubai, condemned the hypocrisy of decency laws Arab Emirates. It was pointed out when he told how he was locked with a murderer and a prostitute in a remote desert prison.

Charlotte Adams (26), who was deported last Friday after 23 days languishing behind bars because it "indecent act", revealed the story of his horror when a local woman claimed she had openly kissed and touched Ayman Najafi, a friend of his English, at a restaurant in Dubai in November last year.

Adams, from Mersea Island, Essex, England, who regularly visit Dubai for business reasons, admitted "tease" Najafi but said he did not do anything except give him "a kiss on the cheek."

In his first interview since the Commons, he said, "It's a relief. I do not think about anything else over the last few months. I like the (Dubai) and makes me sad that I will never go back there. Law there must be evolved. At this time , it was all hypocrisy. "

He criticized Vince Acors and Michelle Palmer, a British couple who were jailed in 2008 for having sex on a Dubai beach. He said the couple was a person "stupid", while he never intended to offend Muslims habits.

"I think they were stupid to behave like that in a Muslim city. Everyone is influenced by what is that (Muslim). You must have been stupid to ignore it," he said.

However, he denies his conduct with Mr. Najafi compared with Palmer and Acors. "I may have kissed his cheek at one point, but we were not drunk and I'll never kiss a man in the middle of a busy restaurant, especially in Dubai," he told The Mail on Sunday (09/05/2010).

Adams was jailed for 23 days for indecent acts and was fined 1000 dirhams for drinking alcohol in April. He was sent to Jail Al Awir-a prison in the vast desert area with guard towers and high walls and barbed wire on top. His fellow inmates, among others, a Russian woman who has cut up his girlfriend's boyfriend and girlfriend. He was sharing a cell measuring 23 x 13 feet with five other people including a pregnant prostitute who allegedly remain locked up for 24 hours after water broke.

"I think I did not sleep the first night," he said. "Three days is the most difficult first. When the doors were locked the first time, it was horrible. I just lay in the dark and try not to cry."

Food is a terrible thing. Adams said he believed that food had been mixed with a sedative. "You quickly feel sluggish and my mind feels empty," he said.

He was free at 7:00 pm, Friday, and was immediately taken to the airport. He was banned from returning to Dubai. "When the plane took off an extraordinary thing even though I know I'm not going back," he said.

Although it has been returned to his family home in Mersea Island, Essex, Adams still did not receive what they experienced. "It does not destroy me, do not change me. I can wake up tomorrow and feel normal. I do not feel afraid and not ashamed of my behavior," he said.
