Jakarta - Mandriva, one of the distributors of Linux, seems threatened folded. French companies were reportedly looking for buyers.

As I quoted from Softpedia, Tuesday (05/11/2010), Mandriva seems to be experiencing major financial problems. Less is more in the months of April 2010, the Paris-based company had been looking for a buyer.

Two companies mentioned already interested in Mandriva. They are LightApp, a company originated in London, and Linagora, a French company.

LightApp been known as a provider of low-cost computing solutions in the form of thin clients that do all the work on the server. While Linagora is Open Source software developers.

There has been no official word from Mandriva about this sale. Mandriva Linux Online, a portal community, is that preaching to the plight of the increasingly grim Mandriva. Reportedly, if not successfully sold, Mandriva will be closed.

There since 1998, Mandriva Linux has long enliven the Linux distribution scene. Linux distribution formerly known as Mandrake Linux, but changed to Mandriva after joining MandrakeSoft Conectiva, a Brazilian company.
