Motivation isn’t something I can usually find when I need it the most. Whether I’m about to begin a project or go on a diet, I wouldn’t say motivation powers my decisions; procrastination usually prevails. But with the help of motivation, work gets done SO much quicker. Although motivation isn’t a naturally acquired talent, many people are blessed with completely positive attitudes which helps to motivate them in a strictly positive way. I can usually dig and find motivation in positive reinforcements, such as bribes:) But when I have no motivation I can typically turn to my friends and family for a little help.

Motivation is the activation or energization of goal-oriented behavior. Motivation may be internal or external. The term is generally used for humans but, theoretically, it can also be used to describe the causes for animal behavior as well. This article refers to human motivation. According to various theories, motivation may be rooted in the basic need to minimize physical pain and maximize pleasure, or it may include specific needs such as eating and resting, or a desired object, hobby, goal, state of being, ideal, or it may be attributed to less-apparent reasons such as altruism, morality, or avoiding mortality.

Motivation is the catalyzing ingredient for every successful innovation- including learning.

Extrinisic motivation -> a person might learn to do something not because learning is fun.
Intrinsic motivation -> motivate the person to be involved in the task and it is fun.

Motivation plays a big role in today’s education.
The definition of motivation is the emotions fueling actions that move you towards your goal.
Motivation is an infinite cycle.
Where: Goals>Motivation>Action
Action > Motivation > Goals Thus, one will feel motivating after each success and create more goals.
Emotions => E(nergy) Motion

Emotions is putting the energy into motion.
2 question to ask yourself to find motivation:

1. “When do you feel the strongest emotions moving you away from your goals?”
2. “When do you feel the strongest emotions moving you towards from your goals?”

2 question to ask yourself to be motivated:

1. “How strong do my goals motivate me to act towards them?”
2. “How do my actions towards my goals strengthen my motivation?”

Side note:
-Praises are meant to be immediate and not the day after.
-However, immediate praises will make some uncomfort to some students as they will feel jealous.
-Pupils value rewards as they add to their sense of worth.

What motivates us? Is it money, recognition, power? For me the key is to know what motivates you personally, not what society expects or prescribes. We all have different goals and therefore our motivators will also differ. Goals will seem unachievable if you have no motivation, as we will inevitaby be faced with obstacles on our journey to reaching our goals. The only thing that will allow you to continue is motivation… So, where do we find this motivation? Within ourselves of course!
