Jakarta - iPad users targeted by cyber criminals fraud action. A spam message trying to entrap users of certain Apple iPad. Anyone who is at risk?
As I quoted from Dark Reading, Tuesday (04/27/2010), started popping up spam messages targeting users iPad. The message told the user to pretend to do the updates in iTunes, complete with links to the update.
The message reads: "There Were released updates for software installed on your iPad device. It is very Important to keep the software on your iPad updated for best performance, newer features and security."
Notice the rather odd style, such as use of the word 'there Were released', which is an indicator the message was a fake. If it followed the instructions in the message, the computer user opens a malicious program on the raid.
This is a scam targets users who also use Windows iPad. While Mac users, especially those who access email via his iPad, would not be affected by malicious programs that.
Computer security firm BitDefender found a malicious program Backdoor.Bifrose.AADY behind those messages. These malicious programs to attack the weaknesses of Internet Explorer that opened on the victim system.
Once a weakness is opened, the variety of security threats were likely to enter. These include theft of software serial numbers and login information and passwords the victim.
